UOD, 25 November, 2025 | University Press Office| On November 22-23, 2025, and in the presence of Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, Dr. Honar Issa, the Secretary General of KAAE, the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, Ziad Mahfooth Abdulakader, The Director of the Sport Directorate, Dr. Falah Saadon, the University of Duhok, through its Sport Directorate, organized the largest chess championship at the student center of the University of Duhok for students from all universities in the Kurdistan Region.

Ten universities from across Kurdistan participated in the championship, including universities from the governorates of Duhok, Erbil, and Sulaimani, such as: Duhok, Tishk, Zakho, Hawler Medical University, Salahaddin, Komar, Cihan, Knowledge, Duhok Polytechnic, and Erbil Polytechnic.

The University of Duhok delivered an outstanding performance in this championship, with its player Mustafa Kamal winning the title of Best Player in the tournament. With strong competition against Tishk University and Hawler Medical University, the University of Duhok succeeded in securing the championship title and achieving first place.
