UOD Strengthens Community Ties Through Exploring University–Civil Society Engagement
Fostering Collaboration for Youth Empowerment and Career Development
📍University of Duhok | May 22, 2025 – University Press Office (UNPO) | In line with the University of Duhok’s Strategic Plan 2023–2038, the Career Development Center (CDC) hosted a focused meeting on “University of Duhok’s Relationship with Civil Society Organizations.”
The event aimed to explore how universities and NGOs can jointly support students’ career readiness and community engagement.
🎙️ Opening Remarks
Dr. Ahmezd Khairdeen Ali, Director of the CDC, welcomed participants and outlined the center’s mission. He emphasized that employability requires not only education but active partnerships with local organizations.
Dr. Zerevan Ameen Abdullah, university professor, highlighted the challenges students face in finding jobs. He pointed to lack of experience, limited exposure to NGOs, and the need for clearer guidance.
🤝 NGO Participation
Representatives from civil society organizations discussed their ongoing projects. They shared insights into how NGOs can offer students practical experience through internships, training, and collaborative initiatives.
All participants expressed willingness to work closely with the university to help students access real-world opportunities.

The meeting reinforced UOD’s goals to:
- Build strong university–community partnerships
- Improve student employability through civic engagement
- Promote collaboration between academic and civil sectors
- Position the CDC as a hub for professional development
