University of Duhok and Tikrit University Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Cooperation in Dentistry

UOD, July 21, 2026 | University Press Office (UNPO) – Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, together with Dr. Saeed Ali Mohammed, Dean of the College of Dentistry, and Dr. Nazar Amin Mohammed, Director of International Relations, welcomed a delegation from Tikrit University headed by Mohammed Raheel Ali, Dean of the College of Dentistry, for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Colleges of Dentistry of the two universities. The meeting was also attended by a number of officials from both institutions.

Prior to the signing ceremony, the two sides held a meeting to discuss ways of enhancing the quality of dental education, strengthening academic and research cooperation, and promoting the exchange of expertise between the two universities. During the meeting, the President of the University of Duhok emphasized the importance of the MoU in expanding future collaboration, particularly in scientific research and joint academic activities. The head of the Tikrit University delegation expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and highlighted the importance of academic partnerships in advancing higher education, stressing that cooperation is a fundamental pillar for achieving success.

Speaking on the significance of the agreement, Dr. Saeed Ali Mohammed, Dean of the College of Dentistry at the University of Duhok, explained that the Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for long-term collaboration between the two colleges in several key areas. These include academic cooperation, joint scientific research, student exchange, continuous professional development, and the organization of joint conferences, workshops, and scientific events that will benefit faculty members and students from both institutions.

Dr. Saeed further noted that the agreement will encourage collaborative publication in high-impact international scientific journals, emphasizing that research conducted jointly by two or more universities often achieves greater scientific visibility, broader academic impact, and higher citation rates. He added that such collaboration will contribute to enhancing the international ranking and academic reputation of both colleges while raising the quality of education, research, and scientific output.

The Memorandum of Understanding reflects the shared commitment of the University of Duhok and Tikrit University to fostering academic excellence, strengthening institutional partnerships, and advancing scientific research for the benefit of both universities and the wider higher education community.
