American Corner Launches Sign Language and Body Language Program
UOD, August 20, 2026, University Press Office (UNPO) | American Corner Duhok at the University of Duhok, in collaboration with Kian NGO for Humanitarian Aid and Development, is conducting a three-month Sign Language and Body Language Program aimed at strengthening participants’ communication skills and promoting greater understanding and inclusion within the community.
Through three sessions each week, 11 participants are developing essential sign language and body language skills while exploring effective ways of communicating, understanding others, and expressing themselves beyond spoken language.The first half of the month will continue at the American Corner, UOD. Yet for the second half, participants will engage in field visits for training in relevant institutions and parties. This enhances the practical experience and knowledge.
The program runs for three months, with three sessions held each week, in collaboration with Kian NGO for Humanitarian Aid and Development. It provides participants with practical communication skills that can contribute to building a more inclusive, connected, and supportive community.
The program also supports the UOD Strategic Plan’s commitment to inclusive learning and student development by promoting accessible communication, strengthening interpersonal skills, and fostering a more inclusive and connected learning environment.
