Czech Consul General: "The University of Duhok is a Modern Institution, and Our Cooperation Will Advance to a New Stage"

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and expand academic cooperation, the University of Duhok welcomed Mr. Lukáš Guryča, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Erbil, who met with Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, on July 19, 2026.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Lokman Hadi Hassan, Vice President of the University; Dr. Mohammed Aziz Ibrahem, Dean of the College of Science; Dr. Jalal Hassan Younis, Meeting Coordinator; Dr. Nazar Ameen Mohammed, Director of International Relations; and Mr. Ismat M. Khabour, Director of Media and Public Relations.

Expanding Academic and International Cooperation

Discussions focused on broadening collaboration in the scientific, cultural, and humanitarian fields while exploring new opportunities to strengthen academic partnerships between the University of Duhok and institutions in the Czech Republic.

The two sides also reviewed the university’s recent academic progress and the developments achieved across its educational and research sectors. Dr. Atrushi highlighted the university’s strategic vision for expanding academic programs and securing international accreditation as part of its commitment to preparing a highly qualified generation capable of serving society.

Strengthening Future Partnerships

For his part, the Consul General expressed his appreciation for the long-standing academic cooperation between the University of Duhok and Czech institutions. Both sides discussed opportunities to deepen collaboration in science, technology, and agriculture, benefiting from the Czech Republic’s expertise while promoting academic exchange and knowledge sharing.

Visit to the Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology

During his visit, Mr. Guryča also toured the Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology (IPP), where he was welcomed by Dr. Bohar Suleiman Isa, Assistant Director of the Institute, and the institute’s staff. He was introduced to the institute’s academic programs and humanitarian services and commended the University of Duhok for its significant role in serving diverse segments of society.

Consul General Praises the University

Concluding his visit, the Czech Consul General expressed his admiration for the university, stating:

“I am greatly impressed by what I have seen at the University of Duhok. It is a highly modern, dynamic, and forward-looking institution. I believe this will further strengthen our relations with our partners in the Czech Republic and open a new chapter of future cooperation.”
