UOD Hosts Delegation from Mosul to Strengthen Cultural and Archaeological Collaboration
UOD, July 15, 2025 | University Press Office (UNPO) — The University of Duhok (UOD) welcomed a distinguished delegation from Mosul, representing the Lamassu Cultural Organization , to discuss future partnerships in archaeological research and cultural heritage preservation.
The meeting was held at the UOD Presidency and attended by Prof. Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University, alongside Dr. Dilshad Abduljabbar Haleem, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Nazar Ameen Mohammed, International Relations Director, and Dr. Zhiyar Sadeeq Ramadan, Head of the Department of Archaeology at the College of Humanities. On the other side, attended the Head of Lamassu Organization, Dr. Omer Jassam, Dr. Hind fakhri, the Consultant of the organizaton, and and Dr. Nabeel Nooraldeen, the Consultant of the organization on behalf of Alnoor University.
The discussion focused on:
- Joint academic activities in archaeology and cultural studies
- Enhancing cross-regional engagement in the documentation and preservation of Iraq’s shared heritage
This initiative aligns closely with UOD’s Strategic Plan 2023–2038, which prioritizes regional cooperation, research innovation, and community involvement in the safeguarding of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
The three parties expressed mutual interest in launching workshops, exhibitions, and student-exchange activities that bridge Mosul and Duhok’s rich archaeological legacies.
Such cooperation reinforces the University of Duhok’s ongoing role as a hub for cultural diplomacy, academic heritage preservation, and national unity through knowledge-sharing.
