UOD | February 12, 2026 | University Press Office (UNPO) — In line with its strategic vision for academic excellence and alignment with market demands, a scientific workshop titled “History Department Graduates and the Labor Market” was held at the Cultural and Social Center of the University of Duhok on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Lokman Hadi Hassan, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Higher Studies, and Prof. Dr. Saeed Khudeida Alo, Dean of the College of Humanities, alongside faculty members, specialists, and students.

Discussions focused on strengthening the relevance of academic programs to evolving economic and technological landscapes.

• Curriculum Development: Dr. Farhad Mohammed Ahmed emphasized the importance of continuously updating academic curricula to ensure graduates are equipped to respond to rapid economic and technological transformations.
  
  
• Bridging the Skills Gap: Dr. Akram Mohammed Aswad addressed the gap between academic study and labor market requirements, highlighting the need to enhance graduates’ competencies beyond reliance on the public sector and expand opportunities across diverse professional fields.
  
  
• 21st Century Education: Dr. Amin Abdulqader underlined the shift toward critical thinking, innovation, and digital literacy as core pillars of modern higher education.
  
  
• Digital Transformation and AI: Mr. Galwan Khalid presented insights on digital archiving and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in data analysis and translation, showcasing its role in advancing research efficiency and academic productivity.
  
  

The workshop concluded with an open discussion session, where participants proposed practical recommendations to enhance graduate employability and strengthen academic-market integration. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the panelists in recognition of their contributions.

This initiative reflects the University of Duhok’s ongoing commitment to curriculum innovation, digital transformation, and preparing competitive graduates capable of contributing effectively to regional and global labor markets.
