Hands-On Emergency Training Session Reinforces UOD’s Commitment to Campus Safety and Preventive Health Awareness

📍 University of Duhok – May 6, 2025 | University Press Office (UNPO) | As part of its mission to ensure a safe, prepared, and health-conscious campus environment, the Directorate of Health and Safety at the University of Duhok, in collaboration with the Directorate of Civil Defense of Duhok Governorate, hosted an intensive first aid and emergency response workshop at UOD.

The workshop targeted employees of the Directorate of Health and Safety and its representatives at UOD colleges equipping them with practical knowledge in first-response protocols, fire hazard management, and emergency evacuation techniques.

🔥 Practical Safety Knowledge for Real-World Readiness

The event featured an in-depth session led by Mr. Bewar Abdulaziz, Spokesman of the Directorate of Civil Defense. He provided expert insights into:

• The role and duties of Civil Defense institutions
   
• Fire risk detection and emergency warning signs
   
• Preventive strategies for minimizing fire outbreaks
   
• Proper use of fire extinguishers and evacuation procedures
   

One of the highlights of the workshop was a live fire-extinguishing demonstration, where attendees actively witnessed and learnt from.

🛡️ Building Internal Safety Leadership at UOD

This initiative reflects UOD’s proactive efforts to institutionalize safety culture across its colleges and departments. The goal is not only to train participants but also to enable them to act as future safety ambassadors and trainers, spreading awareness across the university—especially among internal departments and students in essential roles.
