UOD, July 27, 2025 | University of Duhok Press Office (UNPO) – In a spirit of pride, University of Duhok hosted a graduation photo session for the Class of 2024–2025 of the College of Medicine. Surrounded by faculty, family, and friends, the soon-to-be doctors marked a major milestone in their academic journey.

About the College

Founded in 1992, the College of Medicine is a pillar of the University of Duhok’s Division of Health Sciences, aligned with the Iraqi Health System in the Kurdistan Region. Known for its excellence in medical education, research, and clinical care, the College annually admits 70–80 top students from thousands of applicants. Its comprehensive six-year M.B.Ch.B. program culminates in hands-on clinical training in the final year.

The College currently includes 11 academic departments, including:

Graduate Outlook

Graduates are equipped to join hospitals, healthcare centers, and postgraduate specialization boards both nationally and abroad. Many will pursue further training with the Kurdistan, Iraqi, and Arab Boards of Medical Specialization, reflecting the College’s international ties and local impact.

Student Reflections

Milad Gorgis Radhwan shared that the medical journey was full of challenges, but now they are ready to step into professional life. He stated that he likes to step into the surgery field.

“People always say medicine is hard, but with good time management, it’s definitely possible to succeed.”

Chinar Mohammed Ahmed reflected on the personal growth she experienced during her studies:

“Studying medicine taught me patience. I advise future students to enjoy life alongside their studies.”
She hopes to become a successful surgeon in the future.

Salma Saifuldeen Hussein described the path as long and difficult, yet rewarding.

“Pediatrics is my favorite field — it’s humanitarian by nature. I urge future students to study and work with a humanity sense.”

A Day to Remember

The event was filled with joyful moments: faculty members posing with students, and proud families showing support.
