The event took place in a collaborative academic setting, where participating students from both universities reenacted a full criminal trial scenario, focusing on real-world court procedures and legal argumentation techniques. The simulation was designed to offer students practical exposure to trial dynamics, courtroom etiquette, and legal reasoning—essential skills for aspiring legal professionals.
🎓 Bridging Theory and Practice in Legal Education
Through this moot court, students engaged in various trial roles, including that of the judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, and witness, replicating the structure of a criminal court. The experience not only reinforced classroom learning but also fostered critical soft skills such as:
- Public speaking and courtroom confidence
- Legal research and case preparation
- Analytical and logical reasoning
- Interpersonal communication and teamwork
🧑⚖️ Expert Feedback and Professional Development
At the conclusion of the simulation, faculty members and legal experts from both institutions offered personalized feedback to students, evaluating their legal arguments, procedural accuracy, and overall courtroom performance. This constructive critique allowed participants to refine their skills and gain insights into areas of improvement—preparing them for future legal careers.
🤝 Strategic Academic Partnership
This initiative exemplifies UoD’s efforts to:
- Strengthen academic ties with national universities
- Promote experiential learning through clinical legal education
- Encourage cooperation in legal research and student engagement
- Align with the university’s Strategic Plan 2023–2038 in areas such as employability, practice-oriented education, and legal training
