📍College of Dentistry,  UOD, – May 11, 2025 | University Press Office (UNPO) | As part of its commitment to advancing clinical training and international collaboration, the University of Duhok (UOD) organized an international workshop titled “Minimally Invasive Endodontics”. The session was presented by international expert Dr. Awaz Sharief, MSc in Endodontics and Lecturer at the University of Chester, United Kingdom.

Held at the UOD College of Dentistry, the workshop attracted dental professionals, postgraduate students, and clinical educators, aiming to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic skills in modern root canal treatment techniques and regenerative approaches in endodontics.

🧠 Workshop Objectives and Clinical Impact

The workshop delivered an in-depth exploration of biologically based procedures in endodontics. Key learning outcomes included:

• A comprehensive overview of the history and evolution of regenerative endodontics and vital pulp therapy.
   
• Clear guidelines on when to apply indirect pulp capping, direct pulp capping, partial pulpotomy, full pulpotomy, or root canal therapy (RCT) based on the level of caries and clinical symptoms.
   
• Defining vital pulp therapy and regenerative endodontics as biologically-based procedures designed to restore damaged tooth and pulp structures.
   
• Discussion of clinical indications and case studies for vital pulp therapy and regenerative procedures.
   
• Presentation of recent clinical cases, including step-by-step procedural demonstrations.
   

Dr. Awaz Sharief emphasized the importance of these minimally invasive techniques in promoting tooth preservation and enhancing long-term treatment outcomes, particularly in pediatric and young adult patients.
