The University of Duhok opened the Huawei Academy, a technological institution, at the Central Library in the 1^st of March 2022. The opening ceremonies were attended by Dr. Lokman Hadi Hassan, Vic-President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Rafid Khafaji, deputy of Iraq Huawei Company Manager, Jamal Noori, Huawei Public Relations Manager, and Dr. Ismail Ameen, the UoD Public Relations Coordinator as well as a number of IT specialists.  

Huawei Academy aims to develop expertise in the different technological areas and now that the Academy is open in UoD, it is envisaged that the UoD students and academic staff will benefit from the opportunities it will provide. The Academy will provide tests as well as certificates for the participants.

The Academy has been already opened in the University of Salahaddin and each year different sets of contests for the university students and the winners are then awarded by the Academy. The Academy, which spends more than 40% of its annual profit for the development of technology, is happy to hire anyone interested in applying to work in the areas of IT
