Following its interview with 103 applicants for the 22 administrative vacancies announced earlier by the University of Duhok, the special committee of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which has set up a portal for applications and interview venues, held individual meetings with the applicants in the Conference Center in the University of Duhok.

Dr. Sulaiman Atrushi, the UoD President and a member of the afore-mentioned committee, explained the application and interview procedures stating that “the process has been very successful and very well-organized. After the completion of the interviews, the committee will present its recommendations to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research which will in turn commence its follow ups and refer the list of selected nominees’ names to the Council of Ministers a final decision.”

A number of conditions have been proposed in relation to the vacancies including applicants’ years of expertise, number of publications, and their leadership vision and plan of innovation and development. 

It is important to mention that the process of vacancy announcement is part and parcel of the UoD strategy and aims to improve the administrative and educational qualities. In his discussion of the requirements of the future UoD Board Committee, Dr. Atrushi added that: “We hope that the new UoD Board Committee is open minded and in addition to its administrative commitments, it will be able of founding new progressive programs related to the policies, plans and visions of the UoD.”
