College of City and Regional Planning to Host 2025 Urban Acupuncture Fellowship in Duhok
UOD, August 11, 2025, University Press Office (UNPO) | The College of City and Regional Planning at the University of Duhok is pleased to announce that it will host the prestigious 2025 Urban Acupuncture Fellowship in September, under the theme:
“Healing the River Corridor: Urban Acupuncture as a Catalyst for Green Connectivity and Public Life in Duhok.”
The fully funded, two-month fellowship — running from September 15th to November 15th, 2025 — will bring together six outstanding researchers, doctoral candidates, and master’s students from Germany, Lebanon, and Egypt. This international collaboration aims to reimagine Duhok’s river corridor through the innovative concept of urban acupuncture — a planning approach that revitalizes urban spaces through swift, small-scale interventions that take into account current data and contemporary needs.
Fellowship Goals:
- Revitalize neglected riverbanks as inclusive and accessible public spaces.
- Promote green connectivity and environmentally sustainable urban development.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration in a real-world research environment.
The 2025 Urban Acupuncture Fellowship reflects the college’s continued commitment to sustainable urban development, international academic exchange, and community-focused research.
