Equity and Sustainable Development Program
In celebration of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Center for Gender Equality Studies, in a development program collaboration with the American Corner-Duhok at the University of Duhok, is pleased to invite you to participate in a 6-day in-person program on effective communication between men and women, UN Resolution 1325, Sustainable Development Goal No. 5, and women's participation in leadership, negotiations, and economic development.

Program Description
This program will explore the following topics:
🔘Effective communication between men and women: Participants will learn about the different communication styles of men and women, and how to communicate more effectively with each other.
🔘UN Resolution 1325: Participants will learn about the key provisions of UN Resolution 1325, which calls for increased participation of women in peace and security processes.
🔘Sustainable Development Goal No. 5: Participants will learn about the targets and indicators of Sustainable Development Goal No. 5, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
🔘Women's participation in leadership, negotiations, and economic development: Participants will learn about the challenges and opportunities that women face in participating in leadership, negotiations, and economic development.
Program Speakers
The program will be led by a distinguished team of speakers, including:
- 🔘Mr. Zeravan Ameen, lecturer at Department of Peace and Human Rights at UoD, and trainer in the field of peace and conflict resolution
- 🔘Mr. Mohammed Hasan Hussein, the director of American Corner-Duhok, and trainer in the field of sustainability development and diplomacy
- 🔘Dr. Zubeida Salih, the head of Sociology Department at UoD, and an activist in the field of youth and women
- 🔘Dr. Ramzya Hamza, the head of Religious Education Department at UoD, and a specialist in Women’s Economic Rights in Islam
- 🔘Mohammed Hasan Khamo, the head of Higher Education Unit of the College of Political Sciences at UoD, and a specialized in Public International Law
- 🔘Vajeen Shawkat, lecturer at Sociology Department at UoD, and the founder of a local humanitarian organization
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn from experts in the field of equity and sustainable development
- Network with other students and professionals who are interested in these issues
- Develop their own skills and knowledge in these areas
Outcomes
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Explain the different communication styles of men and women and apply this knowledge to their own interactions
- Identify and analyze the challenges and opportunities that women face in participating in peace and security, sustainable development, and leadership
- Develop strategies to advocate for women's empowerment and participation in all spheres of life
