On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in a ceremony attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir and his delegation, officials of governmental, academic and party institutions, students, teachers, academic and administrative staff of UOD and guests from outside the university, the "Strategic Plan of UOD 2023-2038" was announced.
Welcome speech by the UOD President Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi expressed his pleasure that for the first time since the establishment of University of Duhok to announce a strategic plan, and described the announcement of the "Strategic Plan of Duhok University 2023-2038" as a historic day, he attributed this to three reasons: the first reason is that University of Duhok has been developing a strategic plan for the first time since its establishment. The second reason is that the university council was serious about developing a strategic plan. The third reason is that we have great potential, because the strategic plan was all through the efforts of the staff of University of Duhok without receiving assistance from any outside parties.
The President of the University also pointed out that improving administrative work and having a strategic plan will create better opportunities and provide a more active participation in society, and with this plan we will cross the boundaries of the university and move more towards society. The main objective of the strategic plan is to improve and promote educational programs and bring them to the international level, so that we can compete at high levels and provide a job market for our youth.
Then the President of the university mentioned the four main projects of the strategic plan, which includes the development of Kesk and Pedestrian Campus, the implementation of the Bologna Protocol, the development of digital infrastructure and the development of university administration, they are in the implementation stage, but in general he pointed out that the announcement of the strategic plan will start the implementation of UOD and as a path and will be followed for the next 15 years.
The President also pointed out the establishment of the Institutional Research Center, the Strategic Planning Committee and the Policy Formulation Office, which are not seen in other universities in the region.
Afterwards, a speech was delivered by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir expressed his pleasure to participate in the ceremony of announcing the strategic plan of UOD and described it as an important step. He also spoke about the importance of having a strategic plan, especially for academic institutions and hoped that the strategic plan of UOD will be successful. Finally, he expressed his support for UOD and its strategic plan and projects and said that with the success of the strategic plan of the University, the region will move forward and changes will occur at all levels.
In the ceremony, the Director of the Center for Institutional Research, Dr. Faiq Diko spoke about the "Strategic Plan of UOD 2023-2038" and explained the provisions, tasks and objectives of each phase. In the following, Dr. Dilshad Abduljabar Haleem, Vice President of UOD, spoke about the project "Development of a pedestrian-friendly camp" and explained the plan of UOD in this regard, Among them (Botanical Garden). For his part, the Director of Quality Assurance, Dr. Shahin Abdullah Abdulkarim spoke about the project "Implementation of the Bologna Protocol" and said that the aim of the project is to improve the level of educational programs and reach the international level. Then, mr. Harikar Faisal Khairullah spoke about the project of "Digital Infrastructure Development" of UOD, which is one of the main needs in the new era of technology and this project is a great step to reach the level of world universities in the field of technology. Again, Dr. Faiq Diko spoke about the project "Improving University Administration" as a modern need to reorganize administrative work. Finally, a proposed project for a master's degree in "Impact of Educational Institutions" was presented by the Vice President Dr. Lokman Hadi Hassan.
Finally, the President of UOD presented all four projects within the framework of the strategic area of the University to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Minister of Higher Education expressed his support for all four projects. Then the President of UOD thanked the participants, the University Strategic Plan Preparation Committee, the University Council, teachers, students and administrative staff of the university and asked the relevant parties to cooperate and support the implementation of this plan.
