September 2025, University Press Office (UNPO) – The University of Duhok (UOD), in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Health of the Kurdistan Regional Government, will host the 5th International Scientific Conference on Genocide Studies under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, H.E. Masrour Barzani.
The conference, titled “Scientific Documentation of Anfal Crimes and Mass Graves: Towards International Recognition of the Genocide of the Kurdish People,” will take place on October 28–29, 2025, at the Convention Center, University of Duhok.
This major international gathering will bring together scholars, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to address key themes, including:
- Documentation of the Anfal crimes and mass graves
- Forensic anthropology and victim identification (DNA & molecular studies)
- Recognition of the Yazidi genocide
- Legal aspects of genocide and international justice
- The use of chemical weapons against the Kurdish people
- Psychosocial consequences and trauma studies
The conference welcomes contributions in Kurdish, Arabic, and English, and offers opportunities for keynote speeches, research presentations, and poster sessions.Registration Details:
