Biomedical Engineering at UOD Sets New Milestone with International Double Degree

UOD, December, 2025, University Press Office (UNPO) | The University of Duhok (UOD) celebrated the graduation of the fourth cohort of Biomedical Engineering students, marking a key achievement in one of the University’s most internationally integrated academic programs. A total of 24 students earned a Joint Double Bachelor’s Degree, awarded collaboratively by UOD and Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM), Germany, reflecting the program’s academic rigor and global standards.

The graduation ceremony, held at the UOD Convention Center, brought together university leadership, faculty members, families, and a delegation from THM. The event highlighted the strength of UOD’s long-term partnership with German higher education institutions and its commitment to delivering high-quality engineering education aligned with international benchmarks.

Alongside the ceremony, UOD hosted the 2nd International Symposium on Recent Techniques in Biomedical Engineering, organized in cooperation with THM. The symposium featured keynote lectures and scientific sessions addressing emerging biomedical technologies, including AR/VR applications in healthcare, innovation in medical engineering, and reflections on the success of the joint degree model.

Together, the graduation and symposium underscored the growing role of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UOD as a hub for innovation, international collaboration, and workforce-ready education. The joint degree program continues to enhance graduate employability and positions UOD as a regional leader in biomedical engineering and applied scientific research.
