On October 15, 2024, the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Roelf van Ees, paid a visit to the University of Duhok, accompanied by the Agriculture Advisor at the Consulate, in order to review the joint projects between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the UOD and Kurdistan region. The delegation was welcomed by the Vice President of the UOD for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Lokman Hadi, the Director of the UOD’s International Relations Office, Dr. Nizar Ameen, and its staff members, and UOD Presidency Office Manager, Dr. Bahzad M. Taher Khaled.

First, Dr. Lokman extended UOD’s heartfelt welcome for this visit. Then, he gave an overview on the projects between the two parties. An update was given by Dr. Nizar, demonstrating current ties UOD has with international parties and academic institutions around the world. He suggested areas of potential cooperations, insisting on basic education, peace studies and agriculture fields.

During the meeting held at the UOD Convention Center, participants engaged in insightful discussions about the significance of international relations among nations and regions. They also took the opportunity to share their academic experiences and conditions. UOD officials proposed collaboration with their Dutch counterparts, seeking support through mobility opportunities, student exchanges, and program funding. The Dutch representatives expressed their willingness to relay UOD's suggestions to relevant academic institutions in the Kingdom. To conclude the meeting, both sides exchanged gifts as a gesture of appreciation and goodwill.
