College of Veterinary Medicine Honors Student Volunteers Driving Positive Change at the College
Recognizing Leadership, Creativity, and Community Engagement Through Volunteerism

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Duhok (UOD) honored five students with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their exceptional volunteer contributions throughout the 2025–2026 academic year. The ceremony highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of student engagement, civic responsibility, leadership development, and community service as key pillars of its strategic vision.
Since the beginning of the academic year, the students have actively participated in a range of volunteer initiatives and awareness activities designed to enhance the educational environment and strengthen the sense of community within the college. Working collaboratively as a dedicated team, they contributed to improving several areas of the college through creative artwork, educational displays, awareness posters, and handcrafted projects that enriched the campus atmosphere and promoted a welcoming and inspiring learning environment.
These initiatives reflect the important role that volunteerism plays in supporting student well-being, encouraging creativity, and fostering a positive academic culture. Through their efforts, the students demonstrated how small acts of service can contribute to a more vibrant and inclusive university community.
During the recognition ceremony, Dr. Mohammed Shukri Shukur, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, expressed his appreciation for the students’ dedication and the positive impact of their work. He commended their teamwork, initiative, and commitment to serving their college community, describing their achievements as an example of active student participation and responsible citizenship.
Dr. Mohammed Shukri also encouraged the students to expand their volunteer activities by engaging a wider group of students and strengthening collaboration with peers and staff members across other colleges at the University of Duhok. He emphasized that interdisciplinary cooperation can lead to larger and more impactful projects that contribute to the university’s broader mission of community engagement and institutional development.
Furthermore, he highlighted the lasting value of volunteer experiences, noting that the friendships, teamwork, and shared accomplishments developed through such activities often extend beyond graduation and become an important foundation for future personal and professional success.
