UOD Advances Toward Accreditation with High-Level Seminar on Educational Effectiveness

As part of its ongoing commitment to academic excellence and international quality standards, the University of Duhok (UOD) hosted a significant seminar titled “Education Effectiveness: From Outcomes to Impact,” organized by the Kurdistan Accrediting Association for Education (KAAE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The event marked an important milestone in UOD’s institutional journey toward accreditation and educational reform.
UOD Leadership Highlights Accreditation Readiness
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Lokman Hadi Hassan, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, who reaffirmed UOD’s strategic priority of strengthening quality assurance, learning outcomes assessment, and academic program development.
Dr. Lokman noted that UOD is an active participant in the KAAE Pilot Accreditation Project, which places the University among the leading institutions preparing to meet national and international accreditation benchmarks. He emphasized the importance of readiness for the eligibility stage, describing it as a decisive step for universities aspiring to achieve long-term academic competitiveness and global visibility.
KAAE Presents a Roadmap for Modern Educational Assessment
The seminar’s keynote session were delivered by Dr. Honar Issa, Secretary-General of KAAE, who provided a comprehensive overview of modern principles of educational effectiveness, including:
- Assessment of Learning Outcomes
- Performance Indicators and Curriculum Mapping
- Rubrics and Measurement Tools in Higher Education
- Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Cycles
- Alignment Between Institutional Mission and Program Objectives
Drawing on international best practices, Dr. Issa emphasized that assessment must be evidence-based, multi-method, and linked directly to program and institutional goals. He also clarified that KAAE, established in June 2022, aims to elevate the quality of education across the Kurdistan Region by building consistent and transparent accreditation mechanisms that meet global expectations.
A Regionwide Academic Audience
The seminar attracted academic leaders from various universities across Duhok Province, including deans, department heads, QA coordinators, and faculty members. With lively discussions on student outcomes, data-driven evaluation, and competency-based education, the event offered a meaningful platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building.
For UOD, this seminar strengthened its position as an emerging center for accreditation preparedness, higher education enhancement, and evidence-driven policy development in the Kurdistan Region.
