TRANSITION Project Strengthens Cultural Heritage Awareness at the College of Languages

As part of its strategic commitment to cultural heritage preservation, community awareness, and international academic cooperation, the University of Duhok hosted an educational seminar at the College of Languages focusing on the protection and sustainability of cultural heritage, particularly the heritage of minority communities, ON May 14, 2026.

Seminar Focus: Preserving Cultural Identity

The seminar was delivered by Dr. Zhiyar Sedeeq Ramadan, Head of the Department of Archaeology, College of Humanities, who addressed the importance of safeguarding cultural identity and preserving historical heritage in the face of contemporary social and environmental challenges.

The session highlighted:

  • Protection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage
  • The role of universities in heritage awareness
  • Supporting heritage-related academic research
  • Preserving the cultural identity of minority communities

TRANSITION Project and International Cooperation

The seminar was organized within the framework of the TRANSITION Project, an international academic initiative dedicated to:

  • Strengthening institutional capacities in cultural heritage preservation
  • Promoting interdisciplinary academic cooperation
  • Supporting post-conflict heritage protection
  • Enhancing awareness of minority heritage and cultural diversity

Student and Academic Participation
