UOD Commemorates Global Women’s Breakfast with an Academic Exhibition
Advancing Gender Equity and Scientific Collaboration at UOD
On February 11, 2025, the University of Duhok (UOD) proudly celebrated the Global Women’s Breakfast (GWB) with an academic exhibition at the Students Center, reaffirming its commitment to gender equality, scientific excellence, and global academic collaboration. This event, held annually under the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and sponsored by the American Chemical Society (ACS), serves as a vital platform to empower women in STEM fields and foster international scientific networking.
Honoring the Role of Women in Science
The event brought together esteemed university officials, faculty members, and students, including:

A Leading Initiative in Kurdistan and Iraq
The Department of Chemistry has led the way in organizing GWB events at UOD, making this the fifth consecutive year since 2021 that the university has participated in this global initiative. Notably, UOD’s Chemistry Department remains the only academic institution in Kurdistan and Iraq actively engaging in this international event, positioning itself as a regional leader in STEM education and gender advocacy.
As an active ACS chapter, the Department of Chemistry (DCHM) continues to advance gender equity in STEM, promoting innovation and research excellence. In collaboration with the Physics Chapter of UOD students (SPS), the event provided a dynamic platform for students and faculty members to exchange ideas and celebrate the contributions of women in science.
