UOD PhD Scholar Joins Erasmus+ Mobility at Sapienza University of Rome
Italy, April, 6, 2026, University Press Office (UNPO) | The University of Duhok (UOD) continues to strengthen its internationalization strategy through active participation in Erasmus+ mobility programmes, enabling its researchers to engage in high-impact global academic environments. In this context, Dadvan Hakeem Abdulrahman, a PhD candidate from the College of Basic Education – Department of Geography, has been selected to undertake a prestigious academic mobility at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.
This opportunity was facilitated through the Directorate of International Relations (DOIR) at UOD, which plays a central role in expanding strategic academic partnerships and promoting student and researcher mobility under the Erasmus+ International Mobility framework. Mr. Abdulrahman stands as the sole representative of the University of Duhok in this cycle, reflecting both academic merit and institutional trust.
During his mobility period from February to August 2026, he is actively engaged at the Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Studies at Sapienza University of Rome, contributing to academic exchange and collaborative research. His doctoral research, titled “Water Harvesting and Its Investment in the Badradin Basin (Study in Applied Hydrology)”, addresses critical challenges related to water resource management, sustainable development, and climate resilience—areas of increasing global and regional importance.
As part of his academic engagement, Mr. Abdulrahman is attending advanced applied lectures while simultaneously contributing to teaching activities by delivering Geographic Information Systems (GIS) lectures to Master’s students. This dual role highlights the growing capacity of UOD researchers to both learn from and contribute to international academic institutions, reinforcing the University’s position within the global higher education landscape.
This achievement aligns with UOD’s strategic priorities in enhancing research quality, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and preparing scholars to address real-world challenges through innovative and applied research. It also reflects the broader impact of Erasmus+ programmes in fostering knowledge exchange, academic excellence, and sustainable international cooperation between Europe and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
