A Literary Discourse Uniting Academics and Writers

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between academia and literary circles, the Department of Kurdish Language at the University of Duhok’s College of Languages hosted a thought-provoking seminar featuring renowned poet Amin Botani. Attended by faculty members and students, the seminar provided an engaging platform for critical discourse on Kurdish literature and poetry, reinforcing UOD’s commitment to academic excellence and literary development.

University of Duhok’s Role in Advancing Literary Studies

The seminar aligns with UOD’s strategic goal of fostering academic and literary collaborations, creating a dynamic space for intellectual exchange. Dr. Haval Saleem Tayb, an esteemed professor and expert in literary criticism, emphasized the importance of critical discussions in shaping Kurdish literary studies and advancing innovative research in the field of literary criticism.

Amin Botani: A Voice in Kurdish Poetry

Born in 1966 in Sheikhan, poet Amin Botani has dedicated his literary career to Kurdish poetry and criticism. His poetry collection, Diwana Amin Botani (2017), is a testament to his artistic journey and literary contributions. During the seminar, Botani explored the essence of poetry, poetic techniques, and the intricate relationship between the writer, text, and reader, while critically analyzing the evolving landscape of literary criticism in the Badinan region.

Bridging Academia and Literary Society

The event underscored the University of Duhok’s commitment to strengthening academic and cultural engagement. Dr. Sagvan Abdulrahman Taha, Vice Dean of the College of Languages, reaffirmed the importance of fostering collaboration between the university and regional literary figures.
