Highlighting Technological Creativity and Community Impact through Student Projects

📍 UOD, May 4, 2025, University Press Office (UNPO) | As part of its mission to foster innovation and applied learning, the Department of Computer Science at the College of Science – University of Duhok hosted its Annual Computer Science Software Exhibition on April 24, 2024, at the Student Center.

The event was inaugurated under the supervision and presence of:

• Dr. Luqman Hadi Hassan, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies
   
• Dr. Nabaz Ibrahim Mohammed, Vice President for Student Affairs
   
• Dr. Mohammed Aziz Ibrahem, Dean of the College of Science
   
• Dr. Dezheen Hussein Abdulazeez, Head of the Computer Science Department
   

Along with faculty members, students, and visitors, the exhibition brought together academic minds and innovative thinkers to explore the intersection of computer science and community service.

🖥️ Technology with a Purpose: AI-Powered Projects for Real-World Problems

This year’s edition featured 20 advanced student-led projects, many of which harnessed artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing to solve pressing local and global issues. 

Visitors were invited to engage with the students, who presented their prototypes, explained their development processes, and shared their vision for using technology to drive positive social change.

🎯 Strategic Impact: Aligning Innovation with UOD Vision 2023–2038

This exhibition reflects the University of Duhok’s Strategic Plan 2023–2038, which prioritizes:

• Encouraging student innovation and entrepreneurship
• Applying technology to solve societal challenges
• Integrating practical, hands-on learning with academic curricula
• Promoting interdisciplinary research in emerging technologies
• Advancing UOD’s role as a hub for digital transformation in the Kurdistan Region

By focusing on real-life applications of computer science, the event bridged the gap between academic learning and technological implementation, preparing students to become future leaders in Iraq’s growing tech landscape.

“Our students continue to prove that they are capable of leveraging modern technologies to serve their communities. This exhibition is not just a display of talent but a testament to the transformative role of computer science in regional development,” said Dr. Mohammed Aziz Ibrahem, Dean of the College of Science.
