UOD Moot Court Teams Earn Top Recognition in Jessup and Saudi Arbitration Competitions

📍 UOD College of Law | May 24, 2025 – University Press Office (UNPO) | In a proud moment for the University of Duhok (UOD), the College of Law has formally recognized the remarkable accomplishments of its student teams who represented the university at two prestigious international moot court competitions: the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition in Saudi Arabia.

 

🏛️ Jessup International Law Moot Court Recognition

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Professor Dr. Aveen Khalid Abdulrahman, Dean of the College of Law, welcomed and honored the team that competed in the Iraqi Rounds of the 2025 Philip C. Jessup Moot Court, held from February 10–12 in Erbil.

Among ten competing Iraqi university teams, UOD’s team secured third place, showcasing exceptional advocacy skills and legal reasoning in international law.

⚖️ Saudi Arabia Arbitration Moot Court Recognition

In a second recognition ceremony, the College of Law issued formal Letters of Thanks and Appreciation to another UOD student team for their excellent participation in the Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition, hosted by the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration.

This team earned the Third Best Defendant Memorandum Award, a notable achievement in a high-level regional competition that tested legal drafting, arbitration strategy, and dispute resolution acumen.
