University of Duhok Celebrates the Next Generation of Health Professionals: College of Health Sciences
UOD, July 2026, University Press Office (UNPO) | The University of Duhok (UOD) proudly conducted the graduation photo session for the graduating students of the College of Health Sciences, celebrating a new generation of healthcare professionals prepared to serve their communities with scientific knowledge, clinical competence, and compassion.
Preparing Tomorrow's Healthcare Professionals
Established in 2012, the College of Health Sciences has become one of the University's leading academic colleges dedicated to preparing highly qualified healthcare professionals capable of meeting the growing needs of the Kurdistan Region.
The college currently comprises three academic branches:
Students graduate with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Health Sciences, following a four-year program that combines biomedical sciences with extensive laboratory, hospital, and clinical training. English serves as the language of instruction, ensuring graduates are prepared for both local and international academic and professional opportunities.
Today, the college is home to 319 students, supported by 27 academic staff members, 15 specialized laboratories, and 13 postgraduate students, reflecting its continuous growth in education, research, and professional training.
Excellence Through Practical Education
The College of Health Sciences is committed to producing competent healthcare professionals through an educational approach that integrates scientific theory with practical experience.
Throughout their studies, students receive intensive laboratory instruction and clinical placements in cooperation with healthcare institutions across Duhok Governorate. During their final year, they spend increasing time in hospitals and clinical settings, enabling them to apply their knowledge in real healthcare environments under professional supervision.
Graduates are equipped to pursue careers in:
- Public and private hospitals
- Medical laboratories
- Operating theatres
- Intensive Care Units (ICUs)
- Emergency departments
- Research centers
- Scientific institutes
The program also prepares students for postgraduate studies and lifelong professional development.
A Celebration of Achievement and New Beginnings
The graduation photo session was filled with memorable moments as students celebrated years of perseverance, friendship, and academic accomplishment. Smiles and shared memories reflected not only the completion of a university degree but also the beginning of careers dedicated to serving humanity through healthcare.
