About the project
The Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Duhok, in collaboration with Baghdad Women's Association (BWA) and supported by the Lutheran World Federation (LWF-Iraq) with funding from ACT and ELCA, is implementing the project "A Rights-Based Approach to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and Social Cohesion Between IDPs and the Host Community." The project consists of several activities, including:
- Two three-day communication skills courses
- Two three-day community conflict management skills courses
- Organizing a folklore and cultural festival with the participation of 25 volunteers and attendance of over 100 people
- A visit to sacred places of the three religions by 30 volunteers
- Organizing and training two groups of volunteers to implement two initiatives on women's and minority rights by the participants of the communication skills course. The first initiative will involve cleaning public parks in Simele district, and the second initiative will be chosen by the volunteers.
This project is specific to Simele district. The project starts on 1/5/2023 and ends on 15/12/2023.
