The Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies, supported by the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), designed and implemented the “Building Youth Capacity to Engage Meaningfully in Social Cohesion Initiatives” project. 

The main objective of the project is to build and strengthen UoD students capacity in designing community initiatives that provide university students with opportunities to implement activities aimed at improving social cohesion within the student community. A group of 40 students will be trained on community initiatives planning to enable them to design and implement 8 campus-based social initiatives. 

The project consisted of the following activities:

Selection of 40 UoD students to participate in the project and as follows: 20 students from the Department of Peace and Human Rights Studies, and 20 students from other UoD departments mainly from the humanities ones;

 

  •  Conduct one 3-day basic conflict resolution skills training for at least 20 UoD students from UoD departments other than Department of Peace and Human Rights Studies;
  • Conduct two 3-day community initiative planning training for at least 40 UoD students. Each of these workshops will be attended by 10 of the activity two’s participants along with 10 other selected students from the department of peace and human rights studies;
  • Organize 8 small-grants social cohesion projects for mixed-gender groups of UoD students.
