New York University’s Center for Global Affairs and UoD’s Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies (CPCRS) have conducted a two-day training workshop in facilitation skills on 2-3 October 2018 at CPCRS’s hall for seven academics from the University of Duhok (6 females and 1 male).

The trainer responsible for presenting these workshops designed a specific agenda for this workshop. Content of the workshop aimed at enhancing participants’ capacity in facilitation and conducting workshops and leading exercises during workshops. In the first day of the workshop, the participants were explored the differences between lecturing and facilitation in workshops, principles of leading discussion sessions during workshops, from a traditional training to interactive training, and evaluation of a training session by the trainer. In the second day of the workshop, participants were introduced to the required skills for a successful trainer, how to organize exercises and the purpose behind them, and values and principles of the training.

Worth mentioning, this workshop is one of the two workshops on training skills; the first workshop has been conducted on February 28 and March 1, 2018 for 16 academics from the University of Mosul (10 males, females).
