Justification :

Considering the necessity and importance of historical studies in the Kurdistan region

and in response to the controversy and debate between the Kurdish cultural and academic circles about the extent of the interest of the regional government and the competent authorities in this regard in line with the requirements of the current time. In order to exchange and discuss opinions and the views of experts and specialists, the department assigned a group of specialized researchers from the universities of the region to give lectures and express opinions on ways to develop the level and quality of historical studies and then adopt and formulate proposals and submit them to higher authorities.

The symposium revolves around :

Historical documents: It discusses the importance of historical documents and for researchers , urging the regional government and the competent authorities to obtain them and to put scientific methods and procedures to maintain and preserve them in a way that facilitates obtaining them in a way that is easy to obtain by researchers.

Local, regional and international newspapers, magazines and periodicals: It mentions the importance of newspapers as an important and accurate source for historical studies and directs universities and scientific institutes with specializations to work hard in order to pay attention to them and preserve them in a way that facilitates the use of them.

Personal notes, autobiographies, and oral or oral histories: It discusses personal memoirs as a basic source for writing history, especially modern and contemporary history and the Kurdish liberation movement and encourages researchers and students of the fourth stage to pay attention to this historical field and to carry out more research on it.

The role and contribution of the Ministry of Higher Education: This axis is devoted to explaining the role of the Ministry of Higher Education in developing the quality of historical research and supporting researchers financially and morally by providing them with the requirements of scientific research and setting constructive plans for its advancement in the future.
