An international workshop was announced during February 2022 under the title: "Traditional Construction Techniques and Crafts for Ecosystem Innovations and Adaptive Reuse of Vernacular Architicture” and it is ongoing starting from March 6th, 2022.
Week 1 Activities
On the 8th of March, the participants in the workshop visited two important archaeological sites: the Prophet Nahum heritage site and the Shush synagogue. Petr Justa was providing details on the implemented conservation plan for the Prophet Nahum site including reconstruction techniques, original materials, tools and equipment used, etc... However, for the Shush synagogue, he was explaining the proposed conservation plan for the site, and the participants were quite active in asking questions and also bringing the conservation status of other sites in the region to the discussion.
Week 2 Activities
In the second week of the workshop, the focus was on the damage assessment of the heritage site, development of a management plan for the site, and methods of documentation. Two days were dedicated to field visits of traditional houses in Akre city. The aim of the visits was the documentation and damage assessment of the traditional houses. The visits took place in Tuesday and Wednesday (15th and 16th of March, respectively).
