The University of Duhok Hosts Workshop on Preserving Architectural Culture

The Department of Architecture within the College of Engineering at the University of Duhok recently organized an international workshop focused on the preservation of architectural heritage. Supported by the World Monuments Fund, the workshop attracted participants from the staff of the College of Engineering, as well as numerous professionals and architectural engineers from Duhok city.

Dr. Shireen Younis, an esteemed faculty member specializing in heritage and cultural preservation in urban planning, emphasized the workshop's significance in showcasing innovative techniques and methodologies for the conservation of historic buildings and heritage sites.

Furthermore, the aforementioned faculty member highlighted the workshop's potential impact on the academic landscape, noting plans to introduce higher education programs dedicated to heritage and cultural preservation within the Department of Architecture.

The workshop also provided a platform for students from the Department of Architecture to present their research on significant monuments in Duhok, showcasing their architectural and cultural preservation efforts through informative posters.

The event, organized by the College of Engineering at the University of Duhok, spanned five days and concluded on April 18, 2024.
