The University of Duhok has the first meeting of its Quality Assurance Steering Committee

On May 14th, the University of Duhok marked a significant milestone with the convening of the inaugural session of its Steering Committee for Quality Assurance (QAC). The committee, comprising esteemed members selected from the university's distinguished faculty and staff, convened to embark on a mission aimed at enhancing the quality of academic programmes, research endeavours, and administrative services.

Under the leadership of Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of UOD, the committee received a warm welcome, underscoring its vital role in aligning with the university's strategic objectives. Dr. Lokman Hadi Hassan, Vice President for Scientific and Research Affairs, emphasised the mandatory nature of Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and outlined the committee's responsibilities for the upcoming strategic planning cycle.

Dr. Shaheen Abdullah Abdulkereeem, in her presentation, shed light on the distinct roles of the QAC and the Directorate of Quality Assurance (DQA), emphasising the anticipated impact of the committee on the university's quality assurance framework. Dr. Ismail Amin Ali provided valuable insights into the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) and the Bologna Process, elucidating their significance in shaping quality standards.

Furthermore, Dr. Faiq Diko outlined the university's Internal Quality Assurance Framework, underscoring the committee's pivotal role in its implementation over the next two years. The University of Duhok reaffirmed its commitment to excellence and accountability, with the QAC poised to lead the charge in driving continuous improvement and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
