In his meeting with the board of the College of Humanities on November, 23, 2021, Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, the President of the University of Duhok accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Salih, Vice-President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, confirmed that the UoD board will offer an utmost support to the College of Humanities so that we insure well-prepared and competent future teachers. Similarly, the UoD needs to support the College of Agriculture since our region is highly agricultural and more effective mechanisms should be developed to enhance this sector.
The UoD further added that “the purpose of our visit to the two colleges is to closely watch their conditions and to offer them our suggestions and thoughts as well as hear the viewpoints of the board members.” As part of the UoD strategic plan to strengthen the performance of the College of Humanities, Dr. Atrushi explained that a number of committees have been established such as a committee for increasing the University production, a committee for organizing the transportation of students and establishing students’ commuting line, and a committee for the organization of quality academic international conferences. He also indicated that the UoD should inaugurate a new center that concerns the training and development of university staff and teacher.
Furthermore, the UoD president stated that two portals have been launched with the first one to be allocated to the conveyance of UoD teachers’ suggestions and complaints and the second for the announcements made about available vacancies and administrative positions. These portals can effectively build up the UoD teachers’ information system and database for a more progressive application and employment process.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Dean of the College of Humanities expressed his and the College Board members’ suggestions and opinions about the aforementioned strategies and showed their support to expedite their progress.
