UOD Commemorates the 79th Anniversary of Kurdistan Republic: A Historical Dialogue
On November 22, 2025, the Department of History at the College of Basic Education, in collaboration with the Bishkchi Center for Humanitarian Research, hosted a thought-provoking historical dialogue at the Department of History’s Hall, under the title: "Kurdish Entities in History: Incidents and Phenomena".
The event was organized to honor the 79th anniversary of the establishment of the Kurdish Republic, bringing together esteemed professors and enthusiastic students from the History Department.
Key Highlights of the Event
The session commenced with a warm welcome to the attendees, followed by a captivating artistic performance by third and fourth-year students, reflecting the cultural richness of Kurdish heritage.
The panel discussion featured renowned scholars and specialists in Kurdish historical studies, who provided insightful perspectives on various aspects of Kurdish entities across different historical eras:
- Dr. Salah Muhammad Salim Mahmoud elaborated on Kurdish principalities, their movements, and their influence on Kurdish socio-political challenges.
- Professor Dr. Hozan Suleiman Mirkhan explored Kurdish national consciousness and its significant role in shaping Kurdish identity and political formations.
- Professor Dr. Shivan Zaher Abdullah provided an in-depth analysis of Kurdish principalities during the Islamic State era, highlighting key transformations.
- Professor Dr. Nizar Ayoub Hassan examined the conditions and dynamics of Kurdish principalities during the Ottoman period, offering valuable historical insights.
