In 15-20 May 2017, two members from College of Science (Dr. Mohammed A. Ibrahem from Physics Dept. and Dr. Razwan Najimaldeen from Computer Science Dept., University of Duhok, have been participated in the workshop for completing the Building a Remote Experimentation Network for serving higher education teachers and students in Iraq (REXNet) project, which is supported by the United States International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) and sponsored by the US–Iraq Higher Education Partnerships Program (HEPP). This project is a collaboration between the Oklahoma State University (OSU) and three universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, namely University of Duhok (UoD), University of Zakho (UoZ), and Duhok Polytechnic University (DPU). In general, it aims to use Virtual Labs for serving students and teachers of Physics and computer sciences departments from those three universities. In addition, it aims to develop an online virtual laboratory targeting computer science and engineering students. It is composed of several learning modules of robotics (i.e. Revolute Arm, Gantry, Automated Gantry, Auto W/point Picking, and Factory).

Overall, the workshop has hold at the Center for Cyber Physical System (CCPS), in the Department of Computer Science, College of Arts and Science, Oklahoma State University (OSU), Oklahoma City, USA. This workshop highlighted to show several interesting software and a new instrument that are related to online labs (i.e. Unity Lab Module Tutorials, Virtual Reality power wall Demonstration, HoloLens Demonstration, and Haptic Demonstration). Furthermore, it included a new Robotic laboratory demo, given by Dr. Crick from OSU. Finally, for increasing collaborative work and research activities between Duhok universities and OSU, OSU has perched a new version of HTC VIVE Headset (Virtual Reality) for University of Duhok, under the REXNet project grant.
