On November 30th, 2023, the College of City and Regional Planning held a workshop titled "Research Methods & How to Publish in International Journals". The workshop was led by Dr. Fereydoon Rahmani, Associate Professor at York University, Toronto, Canada.

The workshop focused on guiding students through effective research methodologies and the process of publishing scholarly work in international academic journals. Covering various aspects, such as:

  1. Research Methodologies: Exploring different research methodologies, techniques, and approaches used in academic research, including qualitative and quantitative methods, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  2. Publishing in International Journals: Providing insights into the publishing process, from manuscript preparation to submission, peer review, and the publication cycle.
  3. Navigating Academic Publishing: Understanding the significance of scholarly publications, strategies for choosing appropriate journals, considerations for visibility and impact, ethical issues in publishing, and ways to promote academic work effectively.
  4. Engagement with Academic Community: Emphasizing the importance of networking, collaboration, and engagement within the academic community to enhance research visibility and impact.

The workshop aimed to equip Spatial Planning Department and Social Department students with valuable knowledge and skills necessary for conducting high-quality research and successfully publishing their findings in reputable international journals.
