On February 14th, 2024, the College of City and Regional Planning hosted a workshop on Local Economic Development. Participants at the Local Economic Development workshop delved into challenges facing the tourism sector, addressing issues like inadequate social media marketing and government support, alongside discussing the lack of financial assistance. Insights were shared on the decentralized governance model in the Netherlands, stressing the importance of local committees and transparency, while highlighting the need for functional committees and transparent regulations for sustainable development. Discussions also focused on the relationship between education, business, and government in driving economic development, stressing the need for improved communication and coordination between governmental directorates.
