On 13/12/2020, a group of UoD students, who applied to this project, has designed and implemented a social cohesion initiative with the aim of increasing the levels of books reading and encouraging the UoD students to explore new books and expand the students’ knowledge by overcoming their reluctance to read books. The initiative consisted of two parts, organizing a book fair and a social cohesion seminar. By gathering students from different backgrounds, this initiative stimulated them to exchange ideas and information about different cultures, and so achieved the goal of social cohesion.

Regarding the book fair, the organizers of this initiative (consisting of five students) have purchased 117 different books from the project budget provided by the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). In addition, and with the help of other students, 80 books were obtained which donated by the Badrakhanian Library in Dohuk (the Public Library), and some students were donated a number of books to the book fair.

75 students visited the book fair and 25 attended the seminar. The siminar has orgaanzed and delevred by Dereen Jamal Mohammed, a student of the Department of Peace and Human Rights Studies
