In the framework of its joint project with the Lutheran World Federation Iraq (LWF-Iraq), Baghdad Women’s Association (BWA) and Alternatives to Violence (AVP) movement with support from the Church of Sweden, CPCRS has conducted the third training on Social Media Advocacy at the UoD Cultural Center on November 2 and 3, 2021. Fifteen people (most of them are journalist or social media admins) participated in this training, of which 11 were females and four males; five were IDPs while nine were from the host community in addition to 1 refugee; 11 Muslim, 3 Yazidi and 1 Christian.

The first day of the training focused on an introduction to social media, as well as steps for utilizing social media positively, mechanisms for using social media to improve peace and social cohesion, and ultimately, social media as a platform for serving community cases and needs. The following topics were presented and highlighted on the second day: principles of writing for social media; principles of conducting community initiatives through social media; steps for conducting community initiatives; as well as some role-plays and discussion related to the training’s topics.

To determine how effective this training was, data was generated through the distribution of standardized evaluation forms on the first and at the end of the second day of the training.
