On 13th October, the Department of Spatial Planning hosted a workshop by Mrs. Diman Aldoski, titled "Improving Master plan Implementation in the Kurdistan Region".

This workshop is a part of fieldwork of doctorate research under the title - legal Instrument for master plan implementation in the Kurdistan Region – in the faculty of spatial planning Technical University of Dortmund/Germany. The missing or inadequate implementation of master plans leads to uncontrolled urban development and is characterized by negative features such as a lack of infrastructure, informal settlements and housing shortage.

This workshop aims to achieve the following goals:

•  Identifying the difficulties and challenges of public participation in the planning process.
•  Identifying difficulties and challenges in implementing the master plan
•  Once identified, it is about developing strategies and solutions to overcome these challenges and difficulties.
•  Finally, it is important to show how the Kurdistan region can benefit from the German experience with regard to the legal instruments for implementing the plan.
