High-Rise Buildings in Duhok City: Impact on Community, Sustainability and Visual /Aesthetic

The Aim of the Workshop  

With the current rising interest from private investors in the development of high-rise buildings within the boundaries of Duhok City, the City government needs to set forward necessary regulations to guide the construction of these buildings in the right direction. Issues such as the location, the height limits, and functionality of high-rise developments must be regulated before it is too late for the city planning agencies to be able to effectively deal with these projects. Hence, the college of spatial planning and college of engineering at the university of Duhok is going to hold a workshop in which all stakeholders within Duhok local government and policy makers from the regional government will be attended the workshop aiming to clarify the requirement and impacts of high-rising buildings, and the criteria for using them as an efficient urban development tool, calling on the government to issue more stringent planning guidelines and rules to local authorities and investment companies to control the side effects of high-rising buildings and provide successful integration into Duhok urban context
