Under the auspices of the deanery of the college of pharmacy, three distinguished students from 5th stage under the supervision of Assist prof. Dr. Suad Yousif Alkass , the head of Medicinal Chemistry and Professor,Dr. Daniele Suzette Persike/teaching staff, took part in a distinctive online competition across the republic of Iraq known as “ The First Scientific Olympiad Students” which was held and organized by University of Basrah in cooperation with American Society of Chemistry (ACS Iraq). in 2022. The event passed through two stages for limited period of time. The first stage started from March-April which lasted for 6 weeks.
It is worth mentioning here that the total number of the online participants were 47 from a variety of Universities of Iraq. Furthermore, an International prominent leading team composed of 18 Doctors as well as lecturers namely from Egypt, Algeria and Iraq who ran and evaluated the event. Fortunately, the three competitors students who represented the College of Pharmacy successfully reached the first top ranks.
On the one hand, two of them (Mehvan J.Muhammad and Ruwaida M. Abdullah) were successfully able to gain the first top rank across the event, while the third competitor Fatima F. Mahmood got rank 10 among the rest of competitors.
Moreover, as the event continued, the second and final stage from 22 and 23 July, two of our students ( Mehvan J.Muhammad and Ruwaida M. Abdullah ) had got the second top rank whereas the student Fatima F. Mahmood had got rank number 14 among all participants.
