Under the tutorship and supervision of college of Pharmacy deanery office at UOD, We at the department of pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy successfully accomplished the scientific symposium about Mitochondrial Medicine which was held in collaboration with each of University of Mosul-Iraq, Keele and Newcastle British Universities as well as the international organization Inter-mito patients.

It was involves an introduction to mitochondrial medicine. First lecture by Assoc. Prof Mohammed Abdulghafur about medical and biological aspects of Mitochondria. Dr Mazin Mahmood (Assoc. Prof. in Pediatrics) then explained about the mitochondrial role in Pediatric medicine. The effects of medication on mitochondria including the toxic and therapeutics effects was explained by Dr. Manhal Abdulkader, the Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy.

According to our Knowledge, this was the first symposium in Kurdistan about Mitochondrial Medicine and Therapeutics effect.
