About the department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Duhok established in 2015, which has one of the most modern undergraduate programs in the region. The first batch of Mechanical Engineers graduated in 2019.
The department award a bachelor's Science degree (B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering - General Specialization. The interdisciplinary curriculum, including our strong focus on sustainability, product design and projects management, helps prepare our graduates for their career success in a wide range of areas. The curriculum approved by the department for students of preliminary studies is a semester system. The duration of the study is four years, during which the student will receive (144) units matched with the ABET requirements and distributed over the eight semesters within four years.
The mission of Mechanical Engineering department is to address the most persuasive needs of human society in the region, with a specific emphasis on the fields of energy, transportation and health where the college members in the department work as a group that reflects the focus of management and its methodologies.
We envisage a department that offer the best programs in all aspects in Mechanical Engineering, this will be done through excellence in teaching, research, and service the region that is continuously expanding, also to become a center of advanced research in modern technology.
