"Utilization of insect protein (grasshopper) in ruminant diet’s"

Objective:
The objective of this study is to evaluate the use of different levels of insect powder as an alternative protein source in ruminant nutrition.
The hypothesis:
Insect powder can contain more than 70% crude protein, using this protein in ruminant’s diets would be a good alternative protein source to oilseed meal proteins.
Summary:
It has been estimated that the global population will increase from ~7.5 billion humans (2019) up to 12.3 billion humans by the year 2100 (Gerland et al. 2014; Roser et al. 2019). As a consequence, the availability of natural resources, such as clean water and arable land, will reduce (Ringler et al. 2013). Using insects in animal diets is one possible way of contributing to the efficiency of feed and food production. Despite a lack of detailed knowledge about the life-cycle assessment in some insect-production systems, we do know that there are many advantages of using large-scale insect farming for protein production.
