The President of UoD Collaborates with York University in Canada

During his mission to Canada the President of the University of Duhok Prof. Mosleh Duhoky continued his collaboration with the York University (YU) in Toronto, Canada. This collaboration is a part of the University of Duhok memorandum of Understanding with York University that was signed with the President of York University and put in action last year

Prof Duhoky, met with Professor Lewi Visano from the Department of Equity Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, the two parties agreed on submitting proposal for new project on promoting the Refugees in Iraqi Kurdistan and Canada regarding war and force migration in the middle east. The concentration of this engagement includes: a long overdue evaluation of living conditions and human rights related to forced migrants, refugees and internally displaced people.  The project will be of three phases, the first phase is on refugees’ challenges in Kurdistan camps and shelters and how to overcome them, the project will measure the quality of life indicator and evaluate the roles of the International non-governmental organizations. The second phase will be focus on the refugees in Canada through the analysis of life conditions and re-settlement experiences and adjustment process. Also, a comparison of the host and home countries life challenges. while the third phase will concentrate on children as a refugee especially those with trauma. The impact of this phase will enquires more deeply on the relocatation and dislocation of equitable life conditions

It is important to highlight here that the UoD relations with York University has been flourished after the signing of the MoU between the two parties. Two professors from the Department to Equity Studies at YU participated in the Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology IPP (EAST meet WEST) conference during last June.
