Consul General Mr. Robert Waller along with Deputy Mission Director of USAID-Iraq, Dr. Robert Birkenes, and the Economic Chief, Ms. Lisa Podolny, visited University of Duhok on Tuesday the 8th of Dec,2020 , The delegation received by the president, Prof. Mosleh Duhoky and the Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Post Graduate Studies Dr. Lokman Hadi.
During the meeting Prof. Duhoky gave a short briefing about the University, while Dr. Lokman Hadi gave introduction about the university quality assurance measures. The goal of the visit is to have firsthand insight about the progress of the project entitled “Support to Traditional Cultural Practices in Northern Iraq”. This project is a USAID sponsored project regarding supporting and restoring the lost cultural practices of different minorities in northern Iraq. A team which is consists of several universities and research center is working on the different aspects of the project. The project team consists of University of Duhok, Notre Dame’s Pulte Institute for Global Development, Purdue University, Indiana University, and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute – SIPRI.
Dr. Nashwan Shawkat the UoD coordinator of the project gave a thorough introduction to the delegation about the progress of the project and the expected challenges during the implementation phase.
The Consul General along with the president of the university, visited the College of Agriculture and made a tour to the tissue culture lab, the Animal Production Farm, Forestry Nursery and Fish Farm.
